Tanker Explosion Accident

1%20FFcovericon2_153.gifTerrence Wallace Peterson, manager of the U.F.A. Bulk Station in Elk Point, died at the age of twenty-nine years from third degree burns sustained when his delivery truck exploded on October 31,1972.

Terry Peterson was on his way to make gas deliveries in the district when his truck went out of control, entered the left hand ditch and overturned, about two miles west of the Ferguson Flats Hall. He was thrown clear of the truck but an immediate explosion engulfed him in burning oil. Gordon Fakeley and Carl Nelson appeared on the scene almost immediately afterwards and were able to pull the victim away from the fire. However he had suffered extensive burns and died en route to the University Hospital in Edmonton
